This copy is Number 12″ and Signed. First published in November to robust sales. Unpaginated, with woodcut illustrations printed one-side only. Black cloth with small mounted illustration, paper spine label, black endpapers; top edge gilt, others uncut. This is number Black cloth with black end papers in exceptionally good condition, with paper labels lnd spine and front board. One spot on the spine goss in the accompanying photograph and two light scratches on the front cover. There are a couple of creases in the front free endpaper. The longer crease measures 5″ long. With a dust jacket showing only minor edge wear. Gentle rubbing to extremities. Eard Ward was not only a talented printmaker, but he was a socially-conscious storyteller as well.

It depicts the deadly bargaining of the soul that a struggling young artist is willing to make. Subtle age toning to boards. Short, neat contemporary gift inscription on the second front free endsheet.

Gods’ Man was the first American wordless novel, and is seen as a precursor of, and influence on, the development of the graphic novel. First Edition, Third Printing. Cloth-backed with printed paper-covered boards and spine label; less edgewear than usual with this book; book has a slight forward lean; the contents are very clean and bright, free of any previous owner marks of any kind.
